Whereas, The UAF cafeteria (aka Lola Tilly Dining Hall) tosses out surplus foods into a container at an excessive rate every day of the week (an estimated five large garbage bags per day of “scrap plate food” and additional perfectly edible “left-overs”;

Whereas, These foods could be used in more efficient ways to help the community of Fairbanks and this campus by acknowledging its status as an environmentally friendly place; and

Whereas, There Sodexho and NANA Food Corp already have a list of possible surplus food recipients in the State of Alaska but have not taken action to initialize talks with these recipients; now, therefore be it

Resolved, That ASUF encourages NANA to distribute “scrap plate food” to agricultural entities and the additional perfectly edible “left-overs” to the available not-for-profit organizations in Fairbanks on a regular basis.
